The Top Ten -- TV Shows

Posted by thegeekcorner on April 27, 2009 at 7:44 PM

That's right folks, it's time for the top ten list once again.  I'm sure this one will create just as much controversy as the first one, but hey, that' what all good bloggers do isn't it?  So, without further ado or more time wasting, here are my top ten favorite TV shows as of right now.

Number Ten:  American Idol

Starting off the top of the list is the only reality show that I enjoy watching anymore.  I'm not really sure how to feel about this show.  My enjoyment of the show comes depending on how great my singer is doing.  This season my favorite is already gone, in fact, she is so gone I don't even remember her name.  This season has been so-so compared to the other ones.  I'm thinking that might be because I've just grown so used to it. Or it could be becasue of the new judge.  Either way, that's why it is here instead of something closer to 5th.

Number Nine:  Iron Chef America

This show draws my attention way more than I really believe it should.  I'm not really sure how secret the secret ingredient is on the show, seeing as how all the chefs seem to be expecting it.  Really I just like watching them make the strange ass food.  Seriously, I don't think the average American would eat half that stuff, and I don't think I would blame them.  This is definitely where I get my high brow food shows, I mostly stick to the tried and true average Joe food normally.  But, this is definitely worth a watch, especially if you like cooking.

Number Eight:  Star Wars The Clone wars

Ah yes, Star Wars the Clone Wars.  This a  most excellent show that I think does a resonably well job of tying up a bit of the loose ends between episode two and three.  I like the artist directin they took with the show, and the characters are fairly nice, especially the clones themselves.  Sure, the show has it's problems, both with continuity and with the way Anakin is portrayed in the show, but hey, those are hard things to be perfect on.  If you're a Star Wars fan, don't let the kiddie nature of this show keep you away, it's definitely a great half hour of television.

Number Seven:  Good Eats

I like this show mostly just becaues what he actually makes are really good eats.  He doesn't go for super fancy cuisine most of the time and just keeps it nice and simple to make.  And he talks to you like you don't know how to cook too well, which hey, I don't!  Plus, he uses lots of props and has all kinds of really terrible jokes, and as you may know, I'm a huge fan of terrible jokes.  Definitely a good show for any foodie though.

Number Six:  The Angry Beavers

A blast from the past, that's for sure.  The humor in this show still makes me smile, and when I (very very rarely) see it come on randomly, I do try to stop what I'm doing and watch it.  Definitely my favorite Nick show from back in the day, I'll be fully upfront with you and tell you that this got so high based a bit on nostalgia.  But deep down, I know you all loved this show .

Number Five:  Robot Chicken

This was the first show that I actually wanted to buy a season of on DVD.  And I did.  Booyah.  This show is vulgar humor (Ode to the Nutshot anyone?) and that's probably why I like it so much.  Plus the 15 minute run time is amazing for my super short attention span.  I especially love the little 5 second clips they show, because there's only time for one joke.  Seeing as how everyone I know who follows this site has seen this show, I think that they all agree with me on placing this on the list.

Number Four:  Scrubs

Ah Scrubs, the only medical show I like.  Yes, it also happens to be a hilariously good comedy, but that is besides the point.  I think almost everyone likes this show.  I mean it was popular enough to come back from the dead on a whole different network, that has to say something abuot it's staying power.  Plus, everyone sees themselves in at least one character, so maybe it's easier to conncet to the show. Oh, and the show is hilarious.  Seriously, there is nothinig better tha JD and Turk.  Bes friendship in the history of television.

Number Three:  Family Guy

Ah yes, you didn't honestly think that you'd get through without some Family Guy did you?  Yeah, it's immature, stupid, and all around a terrible show, but I love it.  It has my kind of crude humor.  I know plenty of people aren't a huge fan of this show, but I don't care.  Make our own list.  I don't catch a lot of the references, which almost makes me feel stupid that a cartoon show has a bit more class than I do, but hey, it happens.

Number Two:  Star Trek the Next Generation

I think me and this show are twins.  Seriously, it came out in 1987, I was born in 1987.  When you first get to know us, we both are kind of not great and could use some work, but we quickly make you realize that this we're awesome.  Seriously though, this is the show that made me a Trekkie.  It's an amazingly great science fiction show even to this day.  It shows a much better version of the future than the other shows do, and hey, Picard is the best captain ever.  Suck on that Kirk.  Far better than the original series, or any series that has come after it.  Make it so Number Two.

Number One:  Bones

Bones is amazing.  This is the only other series I have on DVD, and lately I've been seriously craving it.  I like the storylines so far, and this is one that I've been trying to actually watch in something besides reruns.  I think it helps that everyone on the show is just incredibly good looking.  The first season is a lot different than the newer seasons, but that's all for the good too.  While everyone else is watching CSI or Law & Order or House, I'm watching Bones.  You should all try it out sometime, it's a pretty damn good show.  It is number one after all.

That's right.  Lost didn't make the list.  Want to know why?  Becaue I've never watched a single episode of it.  Heroes didn't make it either, mostly because the show isn't that good.  Oh snap.

Peace out.
